Welcome to the official website for Michigan State University and Wayne State University PRSSA’s Regional Conference: “The Tale of Our City: PR’s Role in Detroit’s Revitalization”
Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is a national student organization that encourages growth and exclusive opportunities for public relations students. Each year, PRSSA National selects eight schools to host a regional conference. Regional Conferences allow PRSSA chapters to provide learning, networking, event planning experience and national exposure.
Michigan State University and Wayne State University submitted a joint bid to host a regional conference in the summer of 2015. Both chapters wanted to highlight Detroit’s recent revitalization and how public relations has aided revitalization efforts. It takes a massive PR image management campaign to change Detroit’s perception from decay and corruption. Professionals have to change the story surrounding the city in order to attract people to live, work and play in Detroit.
MSU and WSU PRSSA Chapters’ goal is to educate students and professionals on how to change an entity’s image on a macro level and the opportunities Detroit has to offer them in the professional world.
